Mr. Worrall is a Japan finance industry veteran with expertise in not just Japan’s economy, policy and markets, but also in its foreign asset management industry, from a “sell-side” perspective.
He came to Japan in 1999 while an economist at the Australian federal department of the Treasury to undertake a Japanese government visiting graduate research scholarship at the Faculty of Economics of Tokyo University. He then worked for 23 years at Credit Suisse Securities (Japan) in Tokyo, first in the Japan Economy Research team, alongside Sato Yukari (who subsequently served over 10 years in the National Diet), and Mizuno Atsushi and Adachi Seiji (who both subsequently served on the Board of the BOJ), and then as a Director of Japan Equity Sales, closely servicing and advising multiple foreign asset managers in their Japanese investment activities and operations for over 15 years, becoming widely regarded for his expertise in Japan’s rapidly changing corporate governance and regulatory environment.
He holds honours (First Class) and ordinary degrees in Economics from the University of Adelaide, and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia (SIA).
